I can't imagine living in a place called Ballston.

"Hi. Where are you from?"
"Ballston."
"You're balls weigh how much?"

You can see how this might get uncomfortable.

Heh. I think this could be the very reason why everyone compresses the name to such a degree that it almost sounds like they're saying Boston.
