Chicago does seem to be chock full of music goodness over the coming months and I think I've spotted the best event of the bunch: the Touch and Go Records 25th Anniversary Celebration. Only 8 bands have been announced so far, but the combination of those already on the roster plus the expectation of more to come has me ready to book a flight to Chicago. Shellac, Ted Leo, Enon and Pinback will be playing. Scratch Acid and The Didjits have already announced that they are getting back together for the show. Half of The Jesus Lizard will already be there as part of Scratch Acid, how about the other 2 members? I saw the reunited Slint at the 9:30 Club last year but I could go for that again. Naked Raygun (not really a T&G band, but Quarterstick did re-release all of their albums) has been known to play reunion shows, how about another? Big Black, Rodan, Don Caballero, Man or Astroman?, Polvo, The Volcano Suns, The Effigies...it's kind of crazy the number of incredible bands that have released music on the T&G/Quarterstick label over the years. I can't wait for September!
Have some T&G-issued aluminum guitar mayhem:
