Bob Weston plays bass or so I hear.
So, due to some unavoidable circumstances a friend can no longer go to Shellac show on Thursday. If one of you wants to go call me or e-mail if you want the extra ticket.
Shellac - The Guy Who Invented Fire (live at Camber Sands with MC intro)
Today was the last day on the current project. There's no feeling quite as good as leaving for something new, even if I don't know exactly where I'm going yet.
I've never had a pair of sunglasses due to the fact that I've worn prescription glasses most of my life. On Sunday, I finally bought a pair of sunglasses for the first time since getting contact lenses a few years ago. My first pair of dirt cheap, $12 sunglasses.
Who doesn't love yinzer math rock? Go for it:

"We're reading Elie Wiesel's Night next. I just started reading it, it's so depressing!"

Today: Exploring the comic possibilties of Big Black's cover of Cheap Trick's He's A Whore in the workplace. Our conclusion? Hilarious. My case of short-timer's disease is reaching critical levels.
This Weekend: Snakes, Orioles, a belated birthday and a birthday.
No Comment: "The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is a militant Islamic group located in the Southern Philippines."
Did we eat some crabs yesterday? Oh yes, we ate some crabs.
Old Navy Performance Rock: So, earlier today brought the news that Old Navy was ripping off Oxes, my favorite band to come out of the mean streets of Baltimore. Supposedly there's an Old Navy t-shirt that reproduces an Oxes concert poster. As always, when something like this comes up with Oxes, I kind of take it with a grain of salt due to some of their past pranks. Is it real? We'll see.
Here I Am At The Abyss: The Monorchid has been announced as the final band in the lineup for the Touch and Go 25th Anniversary Concert! Wow, I haven't seen those guys since sometime in 1996 or 1997.

Steve at the end of the Lake Angeline trail.
"Congratulations! Your Master of Science program is coming to a close, and we can begin preparing for your graduation. Please submit the attached Application for graduation for the Fall 2006 semester to me by COB Friday, 15 September 2006."
Now those are some magic words. I'm so ready to be done after 3 and a half years of going to school at night.
Don't bury me, I'm not dead yet! Despite being over yesterday's fever and sore throat, my coworkers thought I was basically undead when I arrived at work today. With a little help from illness, my normal pallor (Irish+English+Ashkenazi=pale) was transformed into that of reanimated zombie. "You look pale, even for you!" Thank you, now hand over your tasty brainssssss.
Special middle of the day post since I'm sick and home from work! I just noticed that The Wrens will be coming back to the Black Cat on October 28th, so y'all should check that out.
Wrens - Built-In Girls
Today was one of those days at work were you just listen to Joy Division's Living In The Ice Age on repeat.
Mary Timony is playing on August 17th at Fort Reno, so I may have to head out for that show as well as the Shellac show at the end of the month. From what I've heard of it, her last solo album (Ex Hex) seems to hit a lot of the notes that made Helium's Dirt of Luck one of my favorite albums of the mid90s.

Russians like shawarma. Russians take photos of their enthusiasm for shawarma. Uh, OK, Russians.
