Different parking lot, different tailgate, different team this weekend and farworse results. Also, all that sun and beer wore me out way more than I counted on.
P.S. The new Statehood and Les Savy Fav (haven't heard all of this one quite yet, but some) albums are pretty great.
Question of the Day: Why didn't anyone tell there was a zombie movie that stars Guitar Wolf before now? It's like you people don't even know me sometimes.
Guitar Wolf - Let's Get Hurt
That purty graph is a visual representation of my music listening habits over the past 4 or so months at home, courtesy of the folks at Last Graph [via Fueled By Coffee]. You can see a much larger, more legible version over here. They take the charts created by your LastFM plugin and generate a graph based upon it. Listen to a lot of any particular band and it'll show up with a chunk of space and a label on it. If you tend to listen to a lot of stuff on random while at home like I do, you end up with a lot of tiny little stripes in the graph that denote individual bands that haven't accumulated enough listens to warrant labeling on the graph. Kind of neat! And hey, gives you something to actually do with all of that LastFM data.
Random note on earworms: Last night, I saw several commercials for some Vera Wang line of clothing that used Iggy Pop's The Passenger as the background music. Even though they don't use the particular lyric, I can't help but think that their new slogan is Vera Wang Wedding Gowns: Now with ripped backsides! Just like how Carnival Cruise Lines wants you to know that they are the cruiseline for liquor, drugs and flesh machines. Also, that new iPod commercial that is on during every commercial break keeps lodging that Feist song in my head.
My friend Nick is living out his dream of quitting his job, traveling the world and posting all about it over at Woolgatherer. Well, I don't know if the blog is actually a part of his dream, but he's doing it anyway. Go check it out!
The recent proliferation of Superchunk clips is making me extremely happy, especially ones like this: Superchunk covering Night Creatures at their first show ever. Also: My Noise and Swinging. Look at Mac's long hair! Pretty funny when you are used to him looking like this (great Talking Heads homage!).
Congratulations to J and I on making it through surgery and back home from the hospital. I hope both of you recover quickly and completely!
