A weekend of studying and a football game/memorial service for me.
Another old photo I've revisited recently to rework in prep for getting some prints done.
Watch: Drive Like Jehu playing Caress in Vancouver.
Undercover Restorer is officially (well, according to me) the most incredible hobby ever.
On break for Thanksgiving. This is an old photo, but I've been rescanning and adjusting old photos that I think I can do a better job at properly adjusting them in Photoshop for print. So yeah, just relearning what I used to do in the darkroom.
On SLF: After 30 years, they still sounded pretty good, even if they can't match the intensity of how they sounded back when they nineteen.
On the Crowd: I haven't seen that many black Xs at a show in ages. I think every underage kid in the DC area that owns a pair of Doc Martens was at the Black Cat last night. I even saw one guy there with what appeared to be his son and daughter who could not have been over 18.
So, today, I made a decision: Japan! Next spring for about 3 weeks, or however long it turns out I can afford to stay and take off from work. I already have a pretty good idea of my itinerary (lots of baseball, visiting Yakushima, Hokkaido), but I'll be taking suggestions, if any of y'all know of something that I absolutely must do while I'm in Nippon.
First Dance Song: Do You Realize?? by the Flaming Lips
Favorite Dancefloor Song Sequence: Mama Said Knock You Out to Scenario to The Choice Is Yours. As I recall, the DJ was doing all of this on vinyl and did beat matching for the transition and everything, which is something I'm not used to getting from a wedding DJ. If you need a wedding DJ, I have a recommendation!
Pleasant Surprise Song: Close To Me by The Cure, which I had never heard at a wedding before and made for a nice midtempo dance song.
Best Sing-a-long: Ooh La La/Hey Jude at the end of the night, which should have seemed cheesey, but somehow wasn't. Probably helps that we were all hammered by that point.
Great Mic: The DJ had an old school Shure microphone, which was pretty awesome to use for my best man speech.
Not wedding related: When you type "Jeter" into the Google Firefox searchbar, "Jeter herpes" is the first suggestion.
Yes, I noticed that Control* is coming out today, but that's going to have to wait until next week. My little bro is getting married!
*I figure I'll head out to see it on Tuesday or Wednesday, if any of y'all are interested.
Back to RFK tonight for the second leg of the series, vamos United!
