Unholy Diver

WASHINGTON — After West Virginia forward Joe Alexander led the seventh-seeded Mountaineers to an upset of second-seeded Duke in the second round of the N.C.A.A. tournament on Saturday, he asked a pointed question.

Men's Bracket Women's Bracket When told that the Mountaineers had just beaten a team with eight McDonald’s all-Americans, Alexander seemed startled. He arched his eyebrows and asked in a serious tone, “Who?”
As a reporter was leaving, the reserve Cam Thoroughman asked if Duke point guard Greg Paulus was one of the eight McDonald’s all-Americans. When told yes, Thoroughman said: “Oh my God. Are you kidding?” "

I Stay Under Glass

Ever year, as part of WFMU's fundraising marathon, Yo La Tengo takes requests from listeners. A few years ago, the highlight was probably their hysterical and not terribly faithful stab at covering Hey Ya. This year? A version of The Passenger that turns into a little song about the career of Jack Nicholson, since Ira is a little fuzzy on the actual lyrics.
